Communication from Nathan DiNiro Jan 10, 2012:

Had a meeting yesterday with the VP of Communications for Open Health Tools, Alesha Adamson. She offered to provide a free one year membership to us in Open health Tools as well as a slot presenting as a new member at their annual board meeting in Las Vegas on 2/23&24. This event coincides with HIMSS'12, and I'll be in Vegas at HIMSS as I'm working with the Collaborative Health Consortium and HIMSS to organize the eCollaboration Forum.

Further, Alesha's Company is the Primary Contractor on an ONC-funded multi-state initiative project, and needs an ambulatory EHR as part of the project. She's just about ready to pull the trigger on a relationship with Tolven, but she's wide open to working with OpenEMR on the project, which includes 5 states. The project is basically to build interfaces, but I'm not entirely sure which and for what. However, I don't think it matters so much as getting an opportunity to play ball and get the exposure and possible some grant dollars.

Proposal from Jack Cahn to put this to the board vote to grant Nathan latitude and board support to pursue these two opportunities:

Ahoy Nate,

Did you get the go ahead from the board and will you have the time to
represent OEMR at the Open Health Tools meeting? I vote yes to that. I
don't see a lot of overlap between OpenEMR and Tolven. It looks to me
that we should be in a good position to work with and integrate with
Tolven - another value added feature for the wish list.

I assume this means that the proposal has been accepted?

I had a meeting with OHT today and I got a great sense of the benefit to us, and we should get that project moving forward ASAP. Most of the projects which are associated with the organization managed to garner quit a bot of clout via their association, which incidentally is an industry trade organization (c6). OHT has a very positive credibility-building effect when projects work to land grants and funding.

We also have a few deadlines to meet, including that we need to send a representative. We have till the event (2/23&24) to get the application completed, but we need to let them know if we'll have a representative at the event. There's a board meeting with a dinner following on Thursday, and Friday is participation in the new member introduction presentations.

I will be at HIMSS from 2/19 till 2/24or25. My Thursday (2/23) is consumed by the eCollaboration Forum I'm helping to organize with Collaborative Health Consortium and HIMSS. No way I can participate in the OHT board meeting, but it's important for one of us to be there. I might possibly be able to do the Friday preso, biut I'm also entangles with Open Affairs Television stuff.

Also, re: the OpenEMR opportunity; they are going with Tolven since they need a PHR, and Tolven is stronger in that department.

Reviewed contract. Comments:

What do they expect we can contribute toward their Vision? Was there an additional document to describe that? How do they raise funds? It sounds as though we can (or are encouraged to) use their logo on the oemr.org site? Thanks Tony and Nate. Jack

I added a Black and White version of the PDF to the top post (it was color at 27 MB, and had the typical Linux XSANE/ISCAN pdf error that causes it to crash or view in landscape on some viewers).

I second Jack's questions... :ugeek:
